Random Stuff

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here is my happy little bundle! A few days ago I bought a few new winter outfits for him and I LOVE this cozy little outfit! It's by Wendy Bellissimo and it is so incredibly soft, I just love squeezing him!:) Garrett had his 4-month checkup this week and he's 16.5 pounds and 26.5 inches long....my big boy! I love this stage because his little legs are SO chubby and adorable and he's starting to get more playful and active.
A few months ago our video camera broke so I haven't been able to tape the boys which bothers me. Kids change so fast (especially babies) and I really wanted to have a record of Garrett's first few months, aside from still photos. So last night we finally bought our new camcorder and that was an ordeal! I hate buying electronics. I want to get the best deal for the best quality but I don't know much about them! Jim knows a little bit, but we just don't have time to research video cameras and read message boards and reports. I did a little "Consumer Reports" investigating and we finally settled on a Sony HDD (Hard Disc Drive) and picked it up last night. I'm excited to start filming away, we have a lot of lost time to make up! Well speaking of which, I need to finish getting ready while the boys are napping. Jim is working out and I'm supposed to be getting my make-up on for church. Have a great weekend!!

It's Been a While

Ahhhh I am slacking in the blogging department!! I just can't resist this beautiful weather, we've been racking up the outdoor family time as much as we can. I just love when the seasons change, you can just feel it in the air! I've been in the mood to decorate and the boys really want pumpkins to carve but we are waiting until October. Jim said we need to hold off a bit, they will be rotten weeks before Halloween at this rate! Speaking of which, the boys are all set with their costumes! Last year I procrastinated (imagine that) and made the mistake of waiting until the last minute. Everything was picked over so this year I learned from that. Gabe is Anakin Skywalker and Grant is Yoda. The costumes are actually more adorable in person, than on the website (that never happens)! Lol. Garrett is going to be Pooh Bear dressed as a bumblebee. I wanted them all to go with the "Jedi" theme but the Pooh costume is so cute and it was already in storage.

Garrett is now rolling all over the place. He loves it, you just lie him down and he's off and rolling! We've been blessed in that all of our kids have been so happy-go-lucky, he's just a laid back dude and loves to smile! That's about it, not much else new to update. I'm trying to do better with my diet and eating healthier. We had Dr. Mehmet Oz on the show (the guy who is on Oprah all the time) and he really scared me into doing better with watching my ingredients. It's amazing what they sneak in food if you don't notice, I never really looked at the labels before. I wish I was doing better with my exercise but I've been slacking there big time! We run outside and play though so at least I'm active with the kids. We just bought a scale for the first time and it's making me crazy! I find myself wanting to weigh myself all the time, I don't like that. Well, better run Garrett is calling!

Forget the Boob Tube, It's You Tube!

I love youtube.com! It's still a relatively new phenomenon but it's been catching on FAST, and for good reason! The kids and I crack up at some of the videos (some are home movies, others short skits, and lots of tv clips etc). I think once a week I'm going to post a link to my latest youtube.com fav. video and if you find a good one, e-mail me (brooke@955thefish.com). I will post a few that we watched this afternoon although it's hard to narrow it down! I'll just have to throw one up due to my time being up already, check this one out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxQPbLIsmh4. It just makes me laugh that this Army unit took the time to create all this (probably with his entire company)! I will also include one of my favorite AFV videos too, the kids LOVE this one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c33KI9P0Ro8

**Disclaimer**-Watch these before showing the kids, I have never run into anything bad on youtube but you just never know, I know they may have some questionable videos (some might be offended by the first link I posted). I think it's harmless fun but don't watch if you feel bothered by it!

Can't Get Enough Kashi!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yum-o (to quote Rachel Ray)! I am already a big fan of Kashi and I was so excited to see their new entree selections! After Gabe was born I joined a weight-loss program and learned a lot about how to eat correctly. The nutritionists I worked with raved about Kashi and really got me hooked, you can't go wrong with them, lots of protein and fiber and just GOOD healthy food. Our family has snagged up just about everything they make and I was delighted when I saw these new dinner meals at Sam's Club! They are just as tasty as I suspected...way to go Kashi!

Best of Sephora

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Sephora.com has their "Best of" list out for their top products of the year. I LOVE Sephora but unless a friend recommends a certain product, I usually get overwhelmed by the choices and don't know what to pick! This Mircoderm. kit is fantastic though and won the "Best Skin Treatment" award. I usually use Avon's Anew brand but I love this too. You can see the full list at www.sephora.com.

The Big "0-5"!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It's been a busy week getting ready for Gabe's fifth birthday! Thursday is the big event and I've been running around trying to get everything set. One of his gifts will be this photo book which I spent an obnoxious amount of time working on. It's called "Faith, Family, Friends and Fun!" a journal of Gabriel's five years. It took forever because I wanted to do a good job and really chronicle everything but it's easy to get carried away. I love this idea though, it's a hard cover book that is library quality and will last years (hopefully)! You can get it at shutterfly.com for only $29! I paid extra for the 2-day shipping and it arrived today. It's beautiful and I can't wait to read it to him, he loves looking back at when he was a baby all the stages. He's also getting the new Sketcher light-up shoes and they arrived today too, very cool!
Aside from that things continue to be hectic but good. I'm so happy that I opted to NOT do the Honolulu marathon though (this year). I have not worked out in weeks and it would've been impossible to train with this current schedule ( plus breastfeeding and everything else). I'm not too worried about my weight though because I'm still chasing the boys, running around trying to clean, and just staying busy and active. Well my time is up! I will try to do better updating and not wait so long next time! I should have some pictures from Gabe's birthday to post this week.

Correction!

Check out this funny e-mail I just received:

Brooke -
I read your blog every so often, and was reading your little blurb about the Frog Pod...it is cool, but since we don't have kids, don't need it. However...I had to laugh...what, exactly, is a "foul swoop"? Did you mean "fell swoop"? I just have this picture of you dressed as a villain, coming into the bathroom while the kids are in the tub, and with a big cape on, swooping up all the toys while they cry because they're not done....

It just struck me as funny, even though I knew what you meant!

Ha-ha, nice visual! Thanks for the correction Melissa. If you are skilled in the English language (and even if you aren't for that matter) you know what a nightmare my blog is! My time is so limited though so I hope you'll forgive my limitless errors and misspellings. Sorry Mrs. Delzer!

Fabulous Frog Pod

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is such a cool tub accessory, it's called the Frog Pod from Boon. Not only does it hold all of the kids bath toys, etc. but you can take the storage bucket off and scoop everything up in one foul swoop! I picked this up at Babies R Us and really love it, plus now the kids also have fun picking up their tub toys too. Boon seems to make some pretty innovative products, check it out at www.booninc.com

By the way, I finally got a full night of SLEEP! I can tell a difference already, by Tuesday I should be back to my old, energetic self (I hope)!!:)
